Ben Affleck’s upcoming Netflix thriller Animals has added more star power, welcoming Ray Fisher, Mark Kassen, and Christopher Woodley to its already impressive cast. They join Affleck, Gillian Anderson, Kerry Washington, Steven Yeun, Luis Gerardo Méndez, and Adriana Paz in the highly anticipated film.
Ray Fisher, who previously starred as Cyborg in Justice League, reunites with Affleck after their experience on the infamous Joss Whedon-led reshoots of the 2017 film. Fisher has been vocal about the alleged toxic work environment on set, with Affleck also hinting at dissatisfaction during that period. Their shared frustrations may have strengthened their bond, making this reunion particularly intriguing for fans. Fisher has since appeared in Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon and the critically acclaimed The Piano Lesson.
Mark Kassen, a Golden Globe and Emmy-nominated filmmaker, is a multi-talented force in Hollywood. He co-founded A Starting Point, a civic engagement platform, and directed Puncture starring Chris Evans. His career spans producing, showrunning, and acting in projects across major networks like Fox, MTV, IFC, AMC, and Sundance Channel.
Christopher Woodley, known for his work in Our Son alongside Luke Evans and Billy Porter, as well as a guest-starring role in Law & Order: SVU, rounds out the trio of new additions.
Written by Connor McIntyre and Billy Ray, Animals is currently filming in Los Angeles, a city that plays an integral role in the story. Following the devastating wildfires earlier this year, the production team is committed to supporting the local film industry and keeping jobs within the community.
The film is produced by Affleck, Matt Damon, Dani Bernfeld, and Lucy Damon under Artists Equity, alongside Makeready and Fifth Season.
