Ewan McGregor & Hayden Christensen To Have Major Roles In "Ahsoka" Season 2

Writer: Dan LalondeDan Lalonde

Fresh rumors have emerged regarding Lucasfilm's two major projects set for release in 2026, sparking excitement among Star Wars fans. These insights, originating from scooper Kristian Harloff (via SFFGazette.com), delve into key plot details and casting news for both the highly anticipated “The Mandalorian & Grogu” movie and the second season of “Ahsoka.”

The Mandalorian & Grogu Movie: A Thrilling New Chapter

According to Harloff, the “Mandalorian & Grogu” movie will feature Embo, the Kyuzo bounty hunter first introduced in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, as a major antagonist. Voiced by Dave Filoni, Embo has transitioned from his bounty-hunting days to life as a farmer on the lush, fungi-filled planet Felucia—a location briefly seen in Revenge of the Sith. Now, Embo’s return promises to bring a compelling villainous arc to the big screen.

The plot reportedly revolves around the kidnapping of Rotta the Hutt, Jabba the Hutt’s son. Rotta is described as a “buff” character and will be portrayed by Jeremy Allen White of The Bear. Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and Grogu are hired to rescue Rotta, while Embo is determined to hunt him down. Fans are also buzzing about the addition of Sigourney Weaver in a mysterious, as-yet-undisclosed role.

Ahsoka Season 2: Obi-Wan and Anakin Return?

The second major project on Lucasfilm's slate is the second season of “Ahsoka”, which has a major surprise in store: the return of Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan Kenobi. Joining him is Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker, who is rumored to have a significant role in the new episodes. The pair’s involvement hints at deeper explorations of the Jedi Order’s past and flashbacks to the Clone Wars era.

Additionally, Ariana Greenblatt, who portrayed a young Ahsoka in the first season, is expected to reprise her role, potentially in more flashback sequences. Fans are speculating this will tie into the Mortis Gods storyline from The Clone Wars, especially since the statues of these mysterious beings were prominently featured in the finale of Ahsoka’s first season.

Series creator Dave Filoni is penning all episodes of the second season, which is set to begin filming later this year. Further updates are expected during the Star Wars Celebration in Japan this April.

What This Means for Star Wars Fans

With these two ambitious projects, Lucasfilm appears to be expanding its narrative scope while honoring the legacy of Star Wars. Whether it's the return of beloved characters like Obi-Wan and Anakin or the evolution of newer ones like Grogu and Din, these projects aim to balance nostalgia with fresh storytelling.

Stay Tuned for More Updates

As we await more official announcements, fans can gear up for what promises to be a monumental year for the Star Wars franchise.
