When it comes to being Dan Lalonde's favourite shows there is a clear 1st and 2nd on my list, 24 and Prison Break. While I'm still waiting for more 24 so Jack Bauer is rescued from the Russian prison, it looks like the prison escape will be with the spin-off of Prison Break which is moving forward at Hulu, and the key cast members have officially been revealed. Emily Browning (American Gods), Lukas Gage (The White Lotus), and Drake Rodger (The Winchesters) are set to lead the new installment of the beloved franchise.
Unlike the original series, which centered around brothers Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) and Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell), this reboot introduces an entirely new set of characters within the same universe.
Browning will portray Cassidy Collins, a former soldier-turned-corrections officer who takes a job at one of the country’s most dangerous prisons. Rodger plays Tommy, an inmate who has already spent a decade behind bars, while Gage takes on the role of Jackson, an aspiring politician navigating his first congressional campaign.
Elgin James (Mayans M.C.) has been tapped to write and executive produce the series under his Sierra Drive production banner, alongside 20th Television. Fans of the original show will be pleased to hear that creator Paul Scheuring, along with executive producers Dawn Olmstead, Marty Adelstein, and Neal Moritz, are all returning for this new iteration.
With a fresh cast, gripping new storylines, and the creative minds behind the original series still involved, Hulu’s Prison Break reboot is shaping up to be an exciting addition to the franchise. More details, including a premiere date, are expected to be announced soon.
