Jake Gyllenhaal is set to lead M. Night Shyamalan’s next film, an untitled supernatural romantic thriller. The project, based on an original idea co-created by Shyamalan and best-selling author Nicholas Sparks, is unique in that both creators are independently developing a screenplay and a novel around the same story and characters.
While plot details remain under wraps, this marks the first collaboration between Shyamalan and a high-profile novelist. The film will be produced by Shyamalan, Ashwin Rajan, Theresa Park, and Marc Bienstock, promising a compelling mix of suspense and emotion.
Shyamalan, whose films have grossed over $3 billion worldwide, is coming off the success of last year’s Trap. Meanwhile, Gyllenhaal is fresh from two major 2024 streaming hits—Amazon’s Road House and Apple TV+’s Presumed Innocent. Up next, he’ll take on the stage alongside Denzel Washington in Othello on Broadway.
