Hollywood powerhouses Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio have officially joined forces with Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt to produce an upcoming crime drama set in Hawaii. The film, currently untitled, originates from an idea by Johnson and Blunt and is drawing early comparisons to classics like The Departed and Goodfellas.
While no deals are finalized, the project is actively being pitched to studios and streaming platforms. Acclaimed journalist and author Nick Bilton, known for his HBO documentary Fake Famous, is set to write the screenplay.
The collaboration marks another major step for Johnson and Blunt, who previously co-starred in Jungle Cruise and are currently working together on The Smashing Machine, an A24 film directed by Benny Safdie. Their latest endeavor takes a more dramatic turn, with crime and high-stakes storytelling at its core.
Scorsese and DiCaprio, one of Hollywood’s most iconic director-actor duos, bring their unparalleled expertise to the project. Their past collaborations include The Wolf of Wall Street, Shutter Island, and the Oscar-winning The Departed.
The film's production team includes a star-studded lineup: Scorsese, Johnson, Blunt, DiCaprio, Bilton, along with Dany Garcia, Lisa Frechette, and Rick Yorn.
With such a powerhouse team, this Hawaii-set crime thriller is already generating buzz. Now, the industry waits to see which studio or streaming platform will bring this ambitious project to life.
