Marvel’s "Daredevil: Born Again" Was Reshot Halfway Thru To Connect To Original Netflix Series

Writer: Dan LalondeDan Lalonde

Marvel Studios made a bold decision to overhaul Daredevil: Born Again after reviewing the episodes completed before the Hollywood strikes. The original version of the show was scrapped, with new showrunner Dario Scardapane (The Punisher) stepping in and bringing back several key cast members from the beloved Netflix series.

The initial direction of the show left its connection to the Netflix series ambiguous, creating confusion among both creators and fans. Charlie Cox, who reprises his role as Matt Murdock/Daredevil, admitted to EW that the original approach felt uncertain:

“Not that it didn’t work, but it was a little bit confusing. It was too, ‘Is it the show or is it not the show?’”

Marvel TV chief Brad Winderbaum echoed this sentiment, explaining that they initially considered keeping things vague but later realized they needed to fully commit to continuing the original series' storyline.

As a result, the revamped version of Born Again now firmly ties into the Netflix continuity, bringing back key characters like Deborah Ann Woll’s Karen Page, Elden Henson’s Foggy Nelson, and Wilson Bethel’s Bullseye. Vincent D’Onofrio reprises his role as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin, while Jon Bernthal returns as Frank Castle/The Punisher.

With the retooled version embracing the legacy of its predecessor, Daredevil: Born Again is shaping up to be a must-watch for longtime fans. The series premieres on Disney+ on March 4th.
