New Rotta the Hutt Details Emerge for "The Mandalorian & Grogu" Movie

Writer: Dan LalondeDan Lalonde

The galaxy far, far away is expanding once again, with next year’s highly anticipated The Mandalorian & Grogu movie set to hit theaters on May 22, 2026. As a reimagining of The Mandalorian’s fourth season, this theatrical event promises new depth and surprises. Among the most intriguing revelations is the inclusion of Rotta the Hutt, portrayed by Jeremy Allen White, in a role unlike any Hutt we've seen before.

Rotta first appeared as a child in Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated movie, but this grown-up version is far from the giggling youngster fans remember. The latest scoop, courtesy of Bespin Bulletin, reveals Rotta as a battle-hardened gladiator, complete with facial scars and a commanding presence. Adding to his menacing demeanor, Rotta wields a vibroblade—a weapon typically reserved for the fiercest fighters in the galaxy.

This gritty evolution of the character marks a departure from the sluggish, scheming Hutts audiences are accustomed to. With the Hutt twins from The Book of Boba Fett rumored to make an appearance, tensions will rise. The twins are reportedly after Rotta, aiming to consolidate control over what remains of Jabba's empire. They’ll enlist the movie’s main antagonist, Embo, to eliminate him.

Meanwhile, Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) takes on a conflicting mission of his own. The New Republic hires him to capture Rotta, sparking speculation that Sigourney Weaver’s Colonel Bishop is the mastermind behind this job.

Directed by Jon Favreau, this installment of Star Wars looks poised to deliver thrilling new dynamics and unforgettable characters. Whether you're rooting for the Mandalorian or bracing for Rotta's wrath, this cinematic journey promises to be a must-see for fans of the franchise.
