Tom Brady just scored a win off the field. The NFL is temporarily easing some of its broadcasting restrictions on the former quarterback ahead of Super Bowl 2025, allowing him to participate in crucial pre-game preparations for Fox’s coverage.
Brady, who signed a massive 10-year, $375 million deal with Fox, faced league-mandated restrictions due to his minority ownership stake in the Las Vegas Raiders. For most of the season, these restrictions barred him from attending production meetings, team practices, and facilities. Additionally, he was prohibited from criticizing referees or the league, limiting his effectiveness as an analyst.
However, ahead of the Chiefs vs. Eagles matchup in New Orleans, the league has made an exception. Chiefs owner Clark Hunt confirmed that Brady will now be allowed to attend production meetings—an essential part of game-day preparation. Despite this, he is still restricted from team practices.
“When (Brady) was approved as an owner of the Raiders, there were a lot of discussions internally… Since he’s doing the game this week, we have no issue with him being in our production meetings,” Hunt told The Athletic.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell also noted that the league will reassess Brady’s restrictions in the offseason. For now, the move allows Brady to be better prepared for Fox’s biggest broadcast of the year, marking an important step in his transition from the field to the booth.
