"Reacher" Author Lee Child Says TV Series Could Revisit Tom Cruise Movies

Writer: Dan LalondeDan Lalonde

Amazon Prime Video’s hit series Reacher is gearing up for its fourth season, and fans won’t have to wait long for production to begin. According to author Lee Child, who has been actively involved in the series, the scripts are already complete, and filming is set to kick off this summer.

Child, currently promoting Reacher Season 3, spoke with Tech Radar about his preference for television adaptations over feature films. With the luxury of extended runtime, he believes streaming allows for a more faithful adaptation of his novels. The third season is based on Persuader, one of over two dozen Reacher books, leaving plenty of material for future seasons.

As for revisiting One Shot and Never Go Back—the novels that inspired the Tom Cruise-led films—Child is open to the idea but doesn’t see it as a priority. Instead, he prefers to explore stories that haven’t yet been adapted in any medium.

“In my mind, they’re not done now. I would revisit them absolutely, but I think not as a matter of urgency. Let’s do something that hasn’t been done in any medium yet. But yeah, I would certainly do the ones that were features, but they’re on the back burner, rather than the next one.”

While details about Season 4’s storyline remain under wraps, the fact that it's fully written and ready for production suggests Amazon is committed to keeping Reacher going strong. With speculation already shifting toward a possible fifth season, fans can rest assured that there’s still plenty of Reacher action on the horizon.

New episodes of Reacher Season 3 will continue to drop throughout March, with the finale set for March 27th.
