Rumor Debunked: Natalie Portman Is Not In Talks For “Ahsoka” Season 2

Writer: Dan LalondeDan Lalonde

A recent “Star Wars” rumor suggesting Natalie Portman’s potential return to the franchise has been firmly debunked. Over the weekend, scooper Kristian Harloff claimed that Portman, known for her portrayal of Padmé Amidala in the prequel trilogy, was close to signing a deal to appear in the second season of Star Wars: Ahsoka. Harloff further alleged that series creator Dave Filoni was actively working to secure her return.

The speculation gained momentum amidst reports that Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi and Hayden Christensen’s Anakin Skywalker might also appear in the new season, teasing a reunion of the prequel trilogy’s main cast. Such a reunion could potentially take place via flashbacks or through the mystical World Between Worlds, a concept introduced in Star Wars Rebels that allows glimpses into other timelines and moments.

However, the rumor has now been refuted by Star Wars News Net. According to their sources, Portman is neither in talks with Lucasfilm nor close to any agreement to reprise her role. While the prospect of Padmé Amidala's return is exciting for fans, these claims have been deemed "not accurate."

Portman has been absent from the Star Wars universe for two decades, with her last appearance being in 2005’s Revenge of the Sith. In 2023, she expressed openness to returning to the franchise if the opportunity arose but confirmed she had not been approached. For now, any hope of seeing her in Ahsoka remains in the realm of fan speculation.

While the rumor mill churns, one thing is clear: Hayden Christensen and Ewan McGregor are in talks for the show’s second season. Whether this involves nostalgic callbacks or new adventures remains to be seen.
