Ryan Murphy’s "9-1-1" & "Doctor Odyssey" Crossover Episode Set For March

Writer: Dan LalondeDan Lalonde

The worlds of Ryan Murphy’s hit TV shows are about to collide in an exciting crossover event. On Thursday, March 20, Angela Bassett’s LAPD sergeant Athena Grant from 9-1-1 will step aboard the high-stakes cruise ship of Doctor Odyssey, led by Joshua Jackson’s Dr. Max Bankman.

Set during the ship’s thrilling Casino Week, the episode’s logline teases that Athena, an unexpected guest, grows suspicious of two passengers who might be plotting to rob the ship’s vault. Enlisting Dr. Bankman’s help, she dives into a dangerous game of deception—where not everyone will walk away a winner.

This marks a first for Murphy, known for crossovers within franchises like American Horror Story, but never between two completely separate shows. Given that 9-1-1 fans last saw Athena and Bobby (Peter Krause) enduring a terrifying honeymoon cruise disaster, her return to the open sea is bound to raise eyebrows.

Since premiering in October, Doctor Odyssey—starring Don Johnson, Phillipa Soo, and Sean Teale—has become a hit, maintaining 86% of 9-1-1’s audience and delivering ABC’s best drama launch since Big Sky (2020).

With 9-1-1: Nashville also in development, this crossover solidifies Murphy’s TV empire, proving that fans love high-stakes drama—whether on land or at sea.

Are you excited for Athena’s next mission? Tune in March 20 on ABC!
