CBS’s Survivor is making history with its 50th season, giving fans the power to influence key elements of the game. Dubbed Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans, the milestone season—set to premiere in February 2026—will allow viewers to vote on major gameplay decisions, marking a first for the long-running reality competition.
Host and executive producer Jeff Probst shared the news, emphasizing the show’s ongoing evolution. “From the very first season, Survivor has been evolving. Now, for our 50th season, it’s time for the next evolution,” Probst said. “For the first time ever, our loyal fans will take control—deciding key elements of the game, from twists to idols to advantages.”
Fans will weigh in on several game-changing decisions, including:
Whether hidden immunity idols will be included
If the final four fire-making challenge remains or is removed
The location of the live finale and reunion show—Los Angeles or Fiji
Voting opens on February 26, 2025, coinciding with the premiere of Survivor season 48. All votes will be locked in before season 50 begins filming.
Adding to the excitement, CBS and Fiji Airways are launching a sweepstakes that will send five groups of fans to Fiji to witness the action firsthand. The promotion is part of a year-long celebration leading up to the landmark season, which will also include a Survivor 50-branded Fiji Airways jet.
With these unprecedented changes, Survivor 50 is shaping up to be one of the most interactive and fan-driven seasons in the show’s history.
