"The Defenders": More Netflix Marvel Characters Could Join The MCU

Writer: Dan LalondeDan Lalonde

Marvel fans, get ready—more familiar faces from Netflix’s Defenders saga may be making their way into the MCU! Brad Winderbaum, the head of Marvel Television, recently hinted that characters like Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist could follow Charlie Cox’s Daredevil into the canon MCU.

While promoting Daredevil: Born Again, which debuts on Disney+ on March 4th, Winderbaum was asked whether Krysten Ritter, Mike Colter, or Finn Jones might reprise their roles. Though he didn’t confirm anything, he made it clear that Marvel is exploring the possibility:

“It’s so exciting to be able to play in that sandbox... We are very much exploring [this possibility].”

This news comes after years of speculation on whether Marvel Studios would officially bring back characters from Netflix’s Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist. The shows originally culminated in the 2017 crossover event The Defenders, before Netflix’s Marvel universe was discontinued.

Krysten Ritter has already expressed her eagerness to return as Jessica Jones, saying in December:

“Come on, Brad! Let’s get it going. Let’s do it. I’ll be ready.”

With Daredevil: Born Again set to run until April 22nd, the same day Andor Season 2 premieres, it’s clear that Disney+ is ramping up its content. Now, the question remains—who will be the next Defender to make their MCU debut?
