Zac Efron is set to star alongside Will Ferrell in an upcoming comedy from Amazon MGM Studios. Directed by Nicholas Stoller, who also wrote the script, the film follows a young convict (Efron) who, upon his release from prison, takes a reality TV courtroom hostage. His target? A megalomaniac TV judge (Ferrell) whose past ruling, he believes, ruined his life.
This marks another high-profile comedy for Amazon MGM Studios, following the success of You’re Cordially Invited, which also features Ferrell. Stoller, known for Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Neighbors, is at the helm once again, promising a mix of sharp humor and outrageous situations.
The project reunites Efron with Amazon MGM after his role in Ricky Stanicky, which debuted on Prime Video last year. Efron has been keeping busy, recently wrapping Famous, a thriller from director Jody Hill, where he plays both a Hollywood star and an obsessed fan.
Meanwhile, Ferrell continues his comedy streak, starring alongside Reese Witherspoon in You’re Cordially Invited, currently the No. 1 film worldwide on Prime Video.
With a star-studded cast and an intriguing premise, this latest Amazon MGM comedy is shaping up to be a must-watch.
